What fun and fellowship I am having since I started this little blog. I didn’t know what I was doing when I started and I still don’t but that’s OK.
When I started studying discernment and apologetics I found that there was no one in my church who was really interested in starting a discernment group. I have a few friends that I always talk to but I have been worried about wearing out my welcome with them. Then I found a blog on wordpress that was very interesting and was soaking it up. Then I found that I could start my own blog in a few seconds. They weren’t kidding.
I have really discovered that there are many who feel the same way as I do, that the church is in deep trouble. Mysticism has crept in by various forms, there is no longer repentance, sin is an inconvenient term, and church leaders are more concerned about attendance than saving souls.
I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank those who have welcomed and encouraged me to be bold and to stand-up for Jesus Christ. He is what it is all about. I know that I cannot change anyone’s mind and I don’t want to try to win an argument with anyone, because it is God only, who can intervene and open someone’s eyes and show them the truth.
There surely is a remnant. I am so grateful to the Lord for my new friends.

Recently, discernment has been on my heart as well. I think it’s misunderstood as “skepticism” today, when in fact, it’s a spiritual gift. In 1 Corinthians 12:10, it’s listed as a gift, along with wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, etc.
Paul tells us to seek those gifts that “build up the church” (1 Corinthians 14). Discernment might not sound as flashy as teaching or prophecy, but without it, the church will get attacked at its foundation. With a flimsy foundation, it’s hard to get built up! It’s certainly a gift worth praying for!
Thanks for your encouragment to seek to be more discerning!

I would only slightly disagree with you Amy.
Discernment is something that everyone should have and excercise.
Discerning of “spirits” is another thing alltogether that normally is an on the spot, given of God knowledge as to the origins of something said or done, wether preaching, prayers, prophecies or worship (so-called) services.
But I whole heartily agree with what you had to say in essence.
And, no offense here, but it’s good to see women seeking this. Something about the emotional way that God wired you can sometimes be used against you if you’re not grounded in God and submitted to your husbands. If any of those are out of whack, the door is wide open. So beware.
Press on!

Amy, thank you so much for the comment. I know what you mean. The Lord is leading both of us and i am learning that there are many others who are also truly burdened for the church and the misled. I needed some encouragement last night and you were it!! Thanks and God Bless

There is a remnant and we are growing in number or at least awareness of one another. Keep seeking, keep blogging and keep your eyes focused on Him.

I haven’t attended Church for a long long time. Since returning I noticed right away something was wrong. The Pastor for the last 25 years is still a member of the congrgation.
the church doesn’t teach the Gospel very often. All their sermons on on subjects to please the congregation. I have attended off and on for the last 3 months. Not once have they had an alter call at the endo of the service.
Someone suggested for me to change churches. I found out that most of the churches are the same! We have turned into a chirch luke warm to god! amen

Hey, thanks for commenting on this older article…I needed to review the links and delete the broken ones.
I was shocked when I started attending church again in 2004. I remember getting dressed up to go to church when i was younger, but now only some of the women wear dresses, but others wear blue jeans and flip-flops. And now, no Bibles, every one read scripture from the bulletin or the power-point. As a girl I remember the sound of the onion-skin paper rustling as the congregation looked up the verses that were used in the sermon.
I really love our current pastor. He preaches sin and repentance. When he came to our church, i actually went to office and asked him to. I told him i longed to hear the truth and to not be afraid to preach the Word.
