Claiming to Know the Mind of God – Rick Wiles and Trunews

“I do not believe the USA will be a free nation beyond November 2012.” ……..Rick Wiles

“Last 3 months of 2010 will be brutal for America. The storm that will hit in the last 3 months of the year will not destroy America but it will stagger and stun the nation. There will be a great disruption in the nations commerce, communications, transportations and supply lines that will impact America for years. Tell my people to use the first 6 months of 2010 to prepare for the last 3 months. A year of bloodshed , violence, terror and fear..”

Rick Wiles Continues To Lead His Flock Down the Pathway of Dreams

“I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy falsely in My name, saying, ‘I had a dream, I had a dream!’ How long? Is there anything in the hearts of the prophets who prophesy falsehood, even these prophets of the deception of their own heart, who intend to make My people forget My name by their dreams which they relate to one another, just as their fathers forgot My name because of Baal? Jer. 23 26-27 NASB

The amount of fraud, deception, and manipulation which takes place in the church today under the pretence that it is the work of the Holy Spirit, is truly staggering. The gifts of the spirit are being counterfeited. Outright lies are peddled from internet ministries in their broadcasts and dressed up as special revelation from God. The gift of prophecy, a thing of excellence in its uncorrupted state, is being degraded into a morass of dream interpretation. The gospel and the risen Christ take a back seat to showmanship in this circus of vanity and puffery, as the ministers responsible seek the prophetic glory for themselves and their ministries.

The Bible is quite clear in stating that we cannot ever know the mind of God. God’s ways are not our ways. Scripture is also clear that human dream interpretation, when used by us as an attempt to discover what the future holds, is an occultic practice akin to divination, and thus is an abomination to the Lord. Why then is there such a large movement thriving in Christian ministries today, especially on the internet, telling us that we can use our dreams and visions to accurately determine what God’s plan is for a city or a country or a people? And further than this, that we can use the dreams and visions of others who we do not know and will never meet, to come to this determination, and complete the abomination by putting God’s name on all of it? Why are dreams being given out to the body of believers in churches and ministries as spiritual direction and advice?

The origins of Alcoholics Anonymous always interests me. I have been sober 28 years now only by the grace of God. Attended A.A. a couple of times and despised going. It is basically a self-help program that fails miserably. The relapse rate is extremly high. Please read…..

Bill W. and Dr. Bob: Trying to contact spirits of the dead

Source My Word Like Fire

“At first, though, my host thought I was ribbing him. He knew little of psychics and had heard nothing before this of my adventures.” (A.A. co-founder Bill Wilson, quoted in PASS IT ON, pg. 277)

“[It] might be said for the cofounders at least, A.A. was entangled with spiritualism from the very beginning.” (Matthew J. Raphael, Bill W. and Mr. Wilson, pg. 159)

“[Alcoholics Anonymous co-founder Dr. Bob Smith] began every morning with meditation and prayer and twenty minutes of Bible study. Like Bill, Bob believed in paranormal possibility and the two men spent time ‘spooking,’ invoking spirits of the dead.” (Susan Cheever, My Name Is Bill, pg. 197)

“Now, these people, Bill and Bob, believed vigorously and aggressively. They were working away at the spiritualism; it was not just a hobby.” (Early A.A. member Tom Powers, quoted in PASS IT ON, pg. 280)

“Do not seek out mediums and spiritists; do not seek out and be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.” (Leviticus 19:31)

“So profound was Bill’s immersion in this area that he at times confused the terms ‘spiritualism’ and ‘spirituality.’” (Ernest Kurtz, Not-god, pg. 136)

“There shall not be found among you…a medium or a spiritist or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord.” (Deuteronomy 18:10, 11, 12)

“[Dr. Bob] felt that in far distant centuries, the science of the mind would be so developed as to make possible contact between the living and the dead.” (Dr. Bob Smith’s son, “Smitty,” quoted in the official Alcoholics Anonymous biography of his father, DR. BOB and the Good Oldtimers, pg. 311)

“The ouija board got moving in earnest. What followed was the fairly usual experience—it was a strange mélange of Aristotle, St. Francis, diverse archangels with odd names, deceased friends—some in purgatory and others doing nicely, thank you! There were malign and mischievious ones of all descriptions, telling of vices quite beyond my ken, even as former alcoholics. Then, the seemingly virtuous entities would elbow them out with messages of comfort, information, advice—and sometimes just sheer nonsense.” ( A.A. co-founder Bill Wilson’s statement in Pass It On, pg. 278) (bold mine)

“As for the person who turns to mediums and spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My Face against that person and will cut him off from his people.” (Leviticus 20:6)

According to his official A.A. biography, Bill Wilson considered that “spiritistic matters were no mere parlor game. It’s not clear when he first became interested in extrasensory phenomena; the field was something that Dr. Bob and Anne Smith were also deeply involved with. Whether or not Bill initially became interested through them, there are references to séances and other psychic events in the letters Bill wrote to [wife] Lois during that first Akron summer with the Smiths, in 1935.” (PASS IT ON, pg.275) (bold mine)

CONTEMPLATIVE SPIRITUALITY AND RECOMMENDED READING FROM FRANK VIOLA

By on Aug 30, 2011 in Current Issues, Emergence Christianity, Emergent Church, Features

Syncretism slithers deeper into spiritually spineless evanjellyfish every day and Apprising Ministries continues to point it out for you wherever we find it.

Dominionism is fast becoming a hot topic and it’s tied to the idea of “changing the world” and supposedly bringing ” God’s dream for the world” to fruition.

The key is to not get caught up in the fact that this idea is actually taught in different ways. The point is the same: In some fashion, man will bring about the Kingdom of God on earth.

With this in mind, in Leonard Sweet, Frank Viola, And The Third Way I pointed out that with the book Jesus Manifesto (JM) by Frank Viola and early Emergent Church theologian Leonard Sweet we see more confluence of House Church and the Emerging Church.

Let me bring to your attention a post over at Truthspeaker’s Weblog called Frank Viola joins with Emergent Church’s Leonard Sweet in writing new book.

It in turn first points us to a June 2010 Herescope post called The Other Side of Emergent: The New Apostolic Reformation, which now becomes even more important  with the NAR in the news as it slithers into the broader Christian Right. We’re told:

The Four Groups Of Cessationists.

Source HERE

In Christian theology, cessationism is the view that the charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as tongues, prophecy and healing, ceased being practiced early on in Church history. Cessationists usually believe the miraculous gifts were given only for the foundation of the Church, during the time between the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost, c. AD 33 (see Acts 2) and the fulfillment of God’s purposes in history, usually identified as either the completion of the last book of the New Testament or the death of the last Apostle.

Cessationists are divided into four main groups:

•Concentric Cessationists believe that the miraculous gifts have indeed ceased in the mainstream church and evangelized areas, but appear in unreached areas as an aid to spreading the Gospel (Luther and Calvin, though they were somewhat inconsistent in this position).

•Classical cessationists assert that the “sign gifts” such as prophecy, healing and speaking in tongues ceased with the apostles and the finishing of the canon of Scripture. They only served as launching pads for the spreading of the Gospel; as affirmations of God’s revelation. However, these cessationists do believe that God still occasionally does miracles today, such as healings or divine guidance, so long as these “miracles” do not accredit new doctrine or add to the New Testament canon. Richard Gaffin, John F. MacArthur and Daniel B. Wallace are perhaps the best-known classical cessationists.

•Full Cessationists argue that along with no miraculous gifts, there are also no miracles performed by God today. This argument, of course, turns on one’s understanding of the term, “miracle.” B. B. Warfield, J. Gresham Machen, F.N. Lee.

•Consistent Cessationists believe that not only were the miraculous gifts only for the establishment of the first-century church, but the so-called fivefold ministry found in Eph. 4 was also a transitional institution (i.e., There are no more apostles or prophets, but also no more pastors, teachers, or evangelists).
