What is the Third Eye and why should Christians know about it.
First let’s look at Wikipedia:
The 3rd or Inner Eye – A metaphysical opening which refers to the 6th chakra (brow), that leads to higher consciousness. A new age symbol of enlightenment.
Okay… so the Third Eye is a psychic ability connected to the occult. Dictionary.com defines occult as knowledge of secret or supernatural powers, beyond the the range of ordinary senses, or secret/hidden information only available to the initiated.
Next we need to know how one “opens” this Third Eye. The main way that one opens himself up to the spirit realm, is through meditation. It is through meditation that one achieves an altered state of consciousness. Constantly you will find that meditation, or the emptying of one’s mind, is the doorway to all metaphysical activity.
Back to the 6th chakra. The chakras usually relate to yoga, but not always. The 6th chakra in yoga is the brow. When kundalini (serpent power) rises to the the brow, there is enlightenment that is characterized by light. Those using yoga as a means of enlightenment get results by meditation, forced breathing patterns and using unnatural positions to force the power at the base of the spine upwards with the crown chakra as the main goal.
Another way enlightenment occurs is through meditation and visualization. Certain techniques are used to “see” and direct the serpent power up the spine through the chakras (nerve centers/wheels).
Here is another description. The kundalini rises and then goes into the brain and then down into the pituitary gland which awakens the pineal gland. When they meet there is union. This is an initiation of the birth of passage into another dimension and beyond. This is supposed to cause an explosion of light.
The third eye is also known as:
The middle eye of Shiva in Buddhism.
In Hinduism it is the eye of clairvoyance. This Hindus wear the Tilak. The red spot between the brows. When I was researching my Goddess Worship post, I looked at a link, describing Christian women who have been applying the red spot on their forehead and worshiping each other’s divinity.
In Egypt it is known as The Eye of Horus or the Eye of Osiris.
In Freemasonry, it is the All Seeing Eye. The same one that is found on our one dollar bill. This All Seeing Eye is surrounded by light.
But the eye usually means the same…esoteric knowledge that man so desires. This eye represents the passing into a spiritual world than man has no business entering. It is forbidden because it will deceive and oppress.
In Genesis 3:5-7 For God doth know..then your eyes shall be opened and ye shall be as Gods…knowing Good and Evil….And the eyes of them both opened.
The Hebrew word for eyes is not plural but singular so what the serpent said was that their eye would be broadened by knowledge. Scripture here is not talking about the physical organ but the eye of the soul.
So for today…opening yourself up or opening your third eye is the same. It is opening a gate between two worlds. Meditation is a sure way of accomplishing this opening up of yourself especially through Contemplative prayer. This is simply meditation masked with Christian terminology. The fear that accompanies entrance into deep meditative levels is there for a reason…it is a warning from God.
I have been reading a manual for opening the third eye from, “The Awakening of the Third Eye” by Samuel Sagan.
It immediately states that meditation is not for relaxation, and that the third eye is the gate that leads within.
Here are some quotes:
“Developing the third eye is a direct way of expanding your conscious universe and discovering your essential values, so that you may fathom your own mystery.” (page 13)
“Suppose an angel comes to you, truly. If you have been trying to visualize angels every morning for a few months how will you know whether it is a true angel or one that you made up…The real problem is, once these visions come to you, how to discern what is real from what is a fancy of the mind” [page 18]
[I thought this was very interesting..he was acknowledging that visualization created visions from your own making]
“You see the universe and it’s finality completely different…It is not what you believe or what you have read that will change your spiritual life..it is what you can experience directly.” [page 18]
[See how a change of worldview is suggested here and the Bible eliminated]
“Whenever there is a vibration or a light, there is a being behind it” (page 160)
[The Bible tells us that Satan comes as a white light]
“What to do with an angel? Let its glory become alive in you…to worship a god first you have to become a god.” (page 161)
[How many times have we seen this? Almost all communications from the spirit world tell us that we are as gods, just like the serpent in Genesis]
“This tragedy is quite common. There are many people who seem to be desperate for spiritual progress. They go on crying ‘I wish God could help me’…and if you look above them, what can you see? Guides and angels who keep whispering ‘Please tune into us, please receive our light‘…If these people could tune in, they would immediately receive a shower of spiritual gifts.” (page 185)
[Light? We already know what the “light” is in the metaphysical world. It is Satan. And this shower of spiritual gifts?..hmmm..]
2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Have you ever read the prophecies of those on the Elijah list? Have you ever had someone tell you that they have a continual conversation with God throughout the day? Have you listened to those who proclaim to the world that their visions are from God? Have you ever heard a prophet say that he could forgive your sins for you? Have you ever heard a TV evangelist say that “I am a God”? Have you ever attended a meeting where the “spiritual” gifts are so numerous that chaos erupts?
I do believe that spiritual gifts are available to us today for the edification of the church…I also believe that many are the products of divination, and are false. We have to discern what is God’s truth and what is man’s truth. The Bible is the deciding factor.
Is it possible that some Christians and some who claim to be Christian have opened themselves up to demonic forces and truly believe they are hearing from God, but are not? YES! That spirit guides and angels you have summoned from another metaphysical realm are holy? NO! They are not holy.
In a world that is giving way to a New Age, a new spiritual mysticism, we have to, as Christians, discern what is from God and what is not. We are to test the spirits.
I John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
I beg of you..do not practice anything that is at all similar to eastern meditation. Meditation is the common factor to all metaphysical and ungodly methods. If you have ….stop and repent…..ask God’s forgiveness.
The goal of the New Age is to unite all religions. Hold strong onto your faith in Jesus Christ. I know many reject this but…. He is indeed THE ONLY WAY.
John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Also remember that Satan is a great counterfeiter and deceiver. He imitates the things of Christ. Satan is not the light. The Lord Jesus Christ is.
So this verse bears repeating.
2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light .
Pray daily that the Lord will give you discernment in these last days of great deception. Discern the light of the world, Jesus, from the counterfeit light of Satan’s enlightment. Many caught up in this spiritual deception and false system are experiencing the darkest time in their lives. Depression, anxiety, panic attacks seem to be common factors among those who have crossed over into this forbidden world. Those dark spirits who follow you do so because you invited them.
Jesus Christ demonstrated His power over the demonic world. Only He can cast out those dark spirits. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ who triumphed over Satan and sin on the cross. He rose again. He is our Savior and will cleanse us from sin and fill us with the Holy Spirit. Faith is trust. Trust in Him.

If we are gods, then how did we forget that we were? Do you really believe that we, as faulty and broken as we all are have any true power to create? Everything we depend on for physical life comes from OUTSIDE of us. We are not self-sufficient; we are helpless without God’s blessings and gifts which He gives to all of us; some more than others, but that’s to give us the opportunity to share with those who are lacking in what they need.
Jesus was saying to the rich man (and I’m paraphrasing my understanding of this passage) that if he was calling Him good, then he must recognize that He (Jesus) was God. Re-read Luke 18:19 in that light.
Jesus said there is only one true God and that He, Jesus, was the only way to the Father who is the only true God. We live in a fallen world. God designed a rescue plan, but we must believe what God has chosen to reveal to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the Word of God. Read your Bible and believe what God says.

Shama, you read the passage in V8 “among the gods there is none like you” out of contex. David is saying that the heathen gods of this world are no comparision to the God who created the Heavens and the Earth. It is not refering to humans as gods.
We are created beings and the created can never become the Creator. The New Age would have us believe that we can become gods, even some so called Christians like Hinn, Hagen and Copeland espouse the same lie that Satan fed Eve in the Garden of Eden. The human race since that deception will always need a Redeemer that One is Jesus Christ who came from the Father where He shared His Glory and ” humbled Himself, became a little lower than the angels, was crucified, died and rose on the third day so that we who believe in Him may also share Eternal Life with Him in Heaven.
God gave mankind a freewill, He did not make them as puppets. He wanted them to freely worship Him and have fellowship with Him. In the Garden they chose to exercise their freewill and believe a lie. The same lie is sown today by many religions. Jesus Christ did not come to end religions, He came to make a bridge between man and God the Father, a relationship that was broken in the garden.
Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. NO ONE comes to the Father except by Me. John 14:6.
The New Age teaches that there are many gods and many ways to Heaven but the Word of God that has been proven to be innerant says that the way is narrow and rough and few that will pass through the narrow gate to Eternal Life. BUT wide and smooth is the broad way and wide is the gate to Eternal destruction and thousands upon thousands pass that way each day. Sad isn’t it.

Ok, maybe I’m a little slow to realize all this but the word “AWAKENING” seems to be everywhere. Isn’t it awakening something to do with Kundalini???? Just googling “Charismatic awakening” comes up with lots of info and well as some of the big name so called pastors, apostles and prophets and the word awakening.

You got it right! The word awakening is everywhere. Tolle’s book, which is an Oprah selection, (and we know she is New-Age) is, “A New Earth – Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose.”

Hey, I was just browsing for info on how to actually open the third eye as me and my two friends are immensely interested in it. I am a practising christian while my friends are christians but do not attend church on a regular basis. i have basically skimmed through this page and the message that I’m picking up is that christians/catholics are easier targets for demons and posession once their third eye is open, but won’t Jesus Christ take care of us if that did happen? Is it not so that the more you believe in God, the more he will protect you which therefore, in a way makes you less vunerable? I would be very intersted to hear your views on this as I have never entered a supernatural site with such a christian view on things and it is very interesting.

I’ve been following this site for a few weeks now, and must say that I’m quite impressed by the powerful quality of articles. Also thrilled to see the valuable discussion that usually follows.
As one who has been miraculously rescued from the occult, I urge Louise to heed the warnings of Tim H and Mary. Stay far, far away. Don’t conflate the opening of the third eye with faith in Jesus Christ, they are NOT compatible. And neither is any of the experience thereafter.
I’m curious to know if anyone knows how Elise (from December posts) is doing. Has she been given complete freedom?

Thank you all for your views but isnt there a passage in the bible (don’t uote me on this) that says something along the lines of if a man loses and eye then its a bad thing (I can’t remeber exactly what it said) but if he finds one may he rejoice…doesn’t this make refernce to the third eye? There are also other passages saying that we should not be fooled by psychics as they will only mislead us and the lord your god should be your only guide. the bible seems to be contradicting itself so how do we actually know which one we should believe?

I recommend going here http://www.blueletterbible.org/ and searching out the scriptures to see if you can find that verse you are talking about. It sounds like maybe a verse that someone has either mis-quoted or mis-interpreted in order to prove what they want it to say. If you find it, please present it to us so that we can look at it also.
I just did a search on “eye” at this site and find no verse that mentions an eye to be taken as you have presented it.
I would also recommend that you do a study/search on the web and find out the proper hermanuetics of studying the bible. Context is very important when studying the bible. It was written as either a book or letter and there were no verse numbers in the original text. Let me ask you this, “If you read a letter that you got from a friend or a newspaper article, wouldn’t you inetrpret the story according to the whole text?” The letter as a whole? That is the same with the scriptures.
There are too many people out there who are doing what is called proof-texting, supporting their beliefs and un-sound doctrines by taking a verse here and there to prove their points. That is improper scripture use.
There are no contridictions in the scriptures.

Jesus goes over how your third eye is the lampstand of the body. The goal is to wake up with light in ones body and this is the only way man can put an end to decay. This is also the only way a prophet can return to the Lord or the source of God.

Understanding spiritual truth in scripture is often times refered to as sight. Not literal sight but spiritually perceived truth. Those passages are NOT talking about a third eye. STOP mixing eastern mysticism with scripture

Lord, you are the God above all other Gods. You are the creator of the universe, the world and of mankind. Lord I pray for the person who has identified themself as sealofgod. Father there is a way that a man/women will go that seems right and yet the only right way is in you. Father I pray that you would rebuke the enemy in sealofgods life and help this person to see truth and be able to understand your word in proper interpretation through the power of your Holy Spirit. You make a really good point about the “seven lampstands” you say that one of these seven lampstands is the third eye. The third eye is the sixth chakra in Buddhism and there are actually seven chakras. This is where it gets interesting, ok the passages about lampstands could indeed be talking about the seven chakras BUT the chakras are a buddhist belief (even then some of think it is evil and shouldnt be tampered with) and the first and most important commandment is that we should not worship false gods “You shall have no other God but me” so this could mean that we can’t believe in other religions. while this is an important commandment, the bible also tells us that we should keep an open mind. This is why i am so confused, you may say that you know what the bible is really saying but how do you know that you haven’t either been misinformed of have simply misinterpreted it?

To everybody else who has given their opinion,
I do know that my eye was only partly open before i found this site, and as you instructed i have been doing my best to simply ignore it. however, the more i ignore it, the more the things that seem to be following me (a young girl and a woman in her mid 30s called Jackie) are trying to get my attention. i didn’t notice them before but since i began trying to ignore them strange things have happened. I do find it quite freaky because as much as i wanted to believe it before, there was a lot of doubt inside of me, as i finally give way to the doubts at the back of my mind, i finally see and hear some things, something i had been praying for for a long time. As i am only a teenager it might just be one of those phases and probably will go away eventually.
Also, I live in Scotland so southern american beliefs aren’t really much good to me right now.

The third eye is ment for the elect of mankind the ones who desire to return to the Lord. The simple man is better off because opening your third eye can be dangerous only if you seek money and earthly things. First off please, please get out of the new age stuff, it is dangerous. Now read the entire chapter of Revelation 7 and than read the entire chapter of Exodus 28.
Not sure why you are using that name “Sealofgod” but this is in regard to your last post on Revelation 7:2. What you are talking about is new age and it “is not and I repeat is not” a third eye. Get your Strong’s Concordance out and look up the Strong’s Greek Definition for the word (seal) in Rev 7:2. It is # 4973 and check out what it say’s. You may also want to look up the word in Rev 7:3 for (in) Strong’s Greek Definition # 1909.
If you go back to Exodus chapter 28 (better to read the whole chapter) now and look at Ex 28:36 and look up the word (signet.) The word signet is Strong’s # 02368 in the Hebrew and as you will see in the definition it is a seal. The signet was put on blue lace (verse 37) and then put upon a mitre. The Hebrew Strong’s for mitre is #04701. In verse 38 of Exodus you will see it was to be upon Aaron’s forehead.

I know that there are spirits of peopel following me because my closest friend can see them. I decided that the people on this site are right and I tried to ignore them to save my soul from eternal damnation. I only had the word of my friend but since i started trying to forget all this stuff some weird stuff has been happening in my house and i can see shadows of things behind me in mirrors. I don’t think they are trying to get me anywhere otherwise i think i woud have a strong urge to go to wherever it was they wanted me to go. My friend says that the little girl just wants me to play with her which is probably why I have spontaneous pains randomly throughout the day because she is unintentionally hurting me. the woman however is apparently realted to me although i don’t think i know her.

Those strange things that are happening to you are a result of spiritual warfare over your soul. You have opened the door by exposing yourself and inviting the spiritual relm into your life. We are not in a battle with one another and I feel that we are all of the same family, the church, so no matter what age we are we should be genuinely concerned for one another. That is the Love of Christ in action, that we pray for one another, and much more.
In fact that is true in sealofgods case. My battle is not with them but rather the “…cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” I will be praying for him/her as well.

Louise, if you are confident that you are a born again Christian, there are a few things which you should do. There is a song called “Slow Fade” by the band Casting Crowns. In it, there is a line that goes “people never crumble in a day”, and “the journey from your mind into your hands, has showed up in your thinking”, and “be careful if you think you stand, you just might be sinking”.
One doesn’t just suddenly become engrossed and overwhelmed with the occult – subtle changes in thought which will distort what is perceived as truth often precede occultic involvement. Now this can happen slowly or quickly, but what I’m saying is that this is a downward spiral of “re-programming” the way that one’s mind thinks to an entirely different paradigm. A new paradigm that removes faith in Jesus Christ.
If one has been contemplating occultic ideas (such as opening the third mind) – this downward spiral is likely well underway. Firstly, pray to God and confess this path and thought process as sin: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). You will immediately be forgiven and washed clean! Praise the Lord for his unfailing grace!
Next, get rid of any and all occultic influence. This means any books, magazines, internet favourite sites, charms, tarots, etc… Destroy such things in order that nobody else can have access to it. As well, don’t associate with people that you know are involved in the occult. For now at least! If you are worried about their souls, your absence will speak volumes for now – and in time you may get the opportunity to share Jesus with them. Try to find a solid Christian mentor. If you can not find anyone immediately, continue to blog with us.
Finally, we need to have our minds renewed. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God’. (Romans 12:2)
A renewing of the mind is the process of destroying false thoughts and tearing down strongholds in the mind. “For though we live in the world we are not carrying on a worldly war, for the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but have divine power to destroy strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:3-4). This would be like a new “re-programming” of the mind – only now the mind is renewed with truth!
There are a few specific ways that we can renew our minds. Confession and repentance of sin is foremost. Then, pray to God that his Spirit would clearly show us where our thought process has been corrupted. I will be praying exactly this for you Louise. Finally, immerse yourself in scripture on a daily basis. If you need a Bible, one can be mailed to you.
What was going to be a short entry has become long, and hopefully not too technical. You may already know all of this as true – sometimes repetition helps cement these concepts. Like many others on this blog, I’ll be praying for you Louise.

I also have contact with an ex spiritualist medium (from the USA) who can tell you the real truth behind his ex ‘friendly’ spirit guides that he had known for over twenty years – when he accepted Christ as his Lord and Saviour, his spirit guides showed their true colours and tried to harm him (they could not harm him because of Christ’s protection though) and he saw they were liars and cheats and not what they claimed (one pretended to be a Victorian man, another a Native American etc etc). His book is VERY enlightening (‘Out from Darkness’ by Ben Alexander) and he now helps a lot of people in the occult.
I also know a few mediums and psychics, one of whom had to turn to me to get rid of an entity harassing her daughter in the Lord Jesus Christ’s name as all her voodoo spells and other stuff would not rid it. She got in too deep and her family suffered. Wihout exception, the people I know who got involved with the occult, got bound by it in some way and had problems as a result, but many did not link the cause and effect.
Many mediums for example – almost all are obese or have drink or other addictive problems, or have severe depression. This is because of the spirits feeding off them, but they often never link it in….cause and effect.
I know you have a fascination with spiritual things – and also a fear too. The reason you are searching, I think, is because you have not found the truth. I know you are surrounded by religion – Scotland is such a religious country – but it is not religion as such you need, it is Jesus Christ, in YOUR life. He will fill your hunger, that drive, that emptiness, that need, that quest for acceptance, and satiate those questions, and stop that searching because you will have found what you have been looking for unlike the U2 song where they are still searching.
The truth is the Lord Jesus Christ – a personal relationship with Him by being born again, asking forgiveness for your sins and asking him to come into your life and be your Lord and to comfort you, help you and guide you, and to fill you with His Holy Spirit. When He comes in and takes control, you will never be the same again. I could say to someone that cuts themself that the self loathing/anxiety/drive to do it goes, and they can be free of that, for instance. You will also KNOW God personally, not just believe in Him, and you can start leading a real supernatural life. I have met thousands of Scots who go to church and have never taken this step of being ‘born again’ because they have never been taught it – they just believe and go to church. Being born again – accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour – is the true supernatural experience you need. It is not JUST ‘believing’ in God or going to church – it is coming to the cross of Christ and realising what He achieved there for you, and actually making a personal decision based on that – and getting your life changed.

A common way some people talk about the gospel is by using this diagram or one similar. I remember us all using it when Billy Graham came to preach at Celtic Park (Paradise!!!) in 1991, for example, and had the joy of leading some young ladies your age from Hamilton to Christ then with it.

1) It’s a Relationship You’re Supposed to Have—The missing person is the One we were created by and for (Colossians 1:16). Every need of the human heart is ultimately traceable to that missing relationship, and a hole remains in the heart without Jesus.
2) It’s a Relationship You Don’t Have—We were created to live God’s way. Instead, we live our own way (the “sin” thing) and separate ourselves from the One we need (Isaiah 53:6; 59:2). The needs and emptiness of life are symptoms of the “cancer” of sin, which ultimately result in spiritual death (Romans 6:23). If the “missingness” of God is never resolved in this life, we will spend forever without God.
3) It’s a Relationship You Can Have–Sin left us at God’s mercy. Knowing that we could not pay the debt, God sent his only Son, Jesus, to pay the ultimate price with His own life—His perfect one for our imperfect one. Christ’s undeserved death and eminent resurrection open the way for us to get where we were created to be—with God (I Peter 3:18). Our own efforts and good intentions could never cut it (Ephesians 2:8,9). (That’s about religion—man’s attempt to get to God. Accepting what Jesus did is about relationship.) Because of Jesus, we can trade a death penalty for eternal life—the opportunity to know God (John 17:3).
4) It’s a Relationship You Must Choose—A one-way love cannot be fulfilling. A love like Jesus’ deserves a response. The relationship He offers requires one. Sin was our choice; having our sin taken away is also our choice. We choose to accept the result of what Jesus did—trading death for life—by “believing in Him” (John 3:16). This belief is not just intellectual. It is active trust (like a drowning person grabbing a lifeguard) which acknowledges Jesus as the only hope of ever getting rid of the sin problem, having relationship with God and getting to heaven (John 14:6).

There are five ways a person could response to Jesus:
• Reject and have nothing to do with Him.
• Ignore Him saying, “Not now…with all this…maybe later.”
• Postpone Him saying, “One of these days I’ll get around to God.”
• “Agree” with Him—that He is God’s Son who lived, died and rose again with power and authority to grant new life; and that you need Him as Savior.
• Commit to Him and pin all hope on Him.
The first four responses all end up in the same place—away from God forever (even agreeing with God, but doing nothing about it). Only the last response, turning to Christ and from whatever is in the other direction (Acts 3:19), enables a person to receive the new life and relationship offered by Jesus. This step is called “repentance.”
A typical prayer (though you can say it in your own words) that people pray to be born again is something like this:
Dear God
Thank you for sending your son to die for me on the cross. I ask you to forgive me for all my sins (perhaps think of some while doing this….) I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me to avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
